Denman Maroney is known for his “hyperpiano” style (playing the keys with one hand and the strings with other using slides and bows of metal, plastic, rubber, and wood) and “temporal harmonies” (composing and improvising in multiple tempos). He has composed over 60 works and recorded 44 albums (28 as a leader). He has won grants from CMA, NEA, NYFA, NYSCA, Arts Council of Rockland County (NY), Arts Council of Michigan, Jerome Robbins Foundation, and Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust.
