Shawn Purcell is a jazz guitarist, educator, arranger and composer in the Washington D.C. area. He has performed, recorded, and/or toured with artists: Terell Stafford, Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Tim Warfield, Brian Charette, Chris Potter, Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra and others. He can be heard on nearly 30 recordings on labels including Posi-Tone, Armored, Sea Breeze and Summit. Purcell is currently the jazz guitarist for the U.S. Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble and adjunct professor of jazz guitar and jazz arranging at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. Purcell earned his DMA in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign.
