A re-imagining of songs from bassist and composer Pete Johnston’s See Through Music back catalogue, made with a new combination of veterans from previous See Through projects. Veteran critic Stuart Broomer described Johnston’s other recent See Through 4 disc (with different personnel) as a “further extension of Lennie Tristano’s already abstracted linear vision” yet here the influences of Jimmy Giuffre, Carla Bley, and Ornette Coleman shine through these performances while offering insight into local chemistry between the players, who have played together across many different ensembles in Toronto over the years.
