A new festival is coming to the Swiss cultural map. Between Mountains launches July 19th with a 24h program that bridges jazz, classical, electronic, and experimental music in the Jura foothills.
Between Mountains is the Swiss counterpart to Germany’s Detect Classic Festival, adapted with its own identity, landscape, and artistic focus. The festival aims to challenge the conventions of concert-going, merging genres and dissolving the boundaries between stage and dancefloor.
The lineup includes exciting jazz artists such as the Popp Drum Trio, led by Munich drummer Simon Popp, merging polyrhythms with ambient textures; ali dada, who fuse spiritual jazz, lo-fi, and surf into raw, analogue grooves; Berlin’s Dictaphone, blending saxophone, clarinet, and electronics into cinematic “slow-motion jazz”; and the Detect Ensemble, combining classical, jazz, and live electronics.
Set at Holdenweid, a former psychiatric estate turned creative sanctuary tucked into the lush landscape of Basel-Landschaft, the location is a beautiful setting for a festival that celebrates curiosity, inspiration, and escapism through sound and space.
