Cadence Jazz Records has just released a new CD, High And Outside of the H M C Trio (Jimmy Halperin – tenor sax, Don Messina – double bass, and Bill Chattin – drums) recorded live in concert. This CD is a follow-up and companion album to the trio’s Cycle Logical (CJR1142) recording from 2001. High And Outside was recorded a year later when the trio was performing often between 2000 and 2004: this recording captures exactly what they were into then! H M C improvises through standards; lines by Bird, Lennie Tristano, Warne Marsh, Lee Konitz, Ted Brown.
