Frank Colón is a specialist in Latin-Caribbean, Brazilian and Asian percussion instruments. On NYC’s jazz scene, he quickly rose to perform and record with Chet Baker, Jaco Pastorious, Michel Camilo, Gato Barbieri, Harry Belafonte, Weather Report, Tania Maria, Flora Purim, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Paquito D’Rivera, Billy Taylor, Dianne Reeves & Aretha Franklin. As a sideman with the Manhattan Transfer for 12 years, he’s on two of their Grammy CDs and was voted as one of the top three “Most Influential Percussionist of the Year” by Modern Drummer Magazine’s poll! Frank appears in the Latin-jazz documentary, “Calle 54″.
