New Yorker Michael Lauren (b.1950) has been drumming since the age of eight. His artistry fuses the boundaries of jazz, funk, blues, rock and world music. Michael has performed and/or recorded with Benny Golson, Tom Harrell, Rick Margitza, Bob Mintzer, Milt Hinton, Bob Stewart, Bill Frisell, Mike Stern and many others. Michael formed his All Star band, with some of Portugal’s best and most experienced jazz musicians, in order to create the opportunity to play music that gives him the most pleasure. The Michael Lauren All Stars play exciting, eclectic, accessible, inclusive, Contemporary Jazz rooted in the Hard Bop tradition.
