Greg Burk’s highly personal musical approach, grounded in his early years in Detroit, and developed through his numerous collaborations and recordings with jazz masters, places him in the lineage of true jazz innovators. Greg was born in Lansing, Michigan to parents both active in classical music. Burk went on to study improvisation with Yusef Lateef, Archie Shepp and Paul Bley. His recordings have been released on Soul Note Records, 482 Music, Jazzwerkstatt and SteepleChase. In 2019 Burk founded Tonos Records. He lives in Rome Italy and is active as a recording artist, performer and educator.
