Rai Castells graduated Summa Cum Laude in Jazz Performance from Berklee College. He began his music studies in Barcelona. Later on, he received a scholarship to study at Berklee College in Boston. There, he received several scholarships as well as the prestigious Elvin Jones Award (Award awarded by the Performance Department at Berklee), and the Berklee World Scholarship tour. He has studied with musicians like George Garzone, Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, Mick Goodrick, and Joanne Bracken, among others. He has played with musicians such as Bill McHenry, Jeff Galindo, Robert Kaufman, Miguel ‘Pintxo’ Villar, Benet Palet, Aldo Caviglia.
